Students often ask what device can they use for studying A Cloud Guru course.
There are really two aspects to this question.
- Watching and reading the course material
- Interacting with cloud service and completing the labs
1/ Our website is designed and maintained to run on most modern browsers, and it tested and supported on the current Windows and macOS version. In addition the Mobile app is maintained for the current Android and iOS version. The specifics of the supported mobile OS and device can be check in the App store of the relevant device. (The latest version now also included support for Chromecast).
This does not mean that the A Cloud Guru site will not work on other browsers or operating systems, only that we cannot provide support for them. Some students have successfully completed study on devices such as Linux laptops, Chromebooks and Fire TV.
2/ Depending on the Course, a big part of the study can be interacting with the Vendors' cloud environment and getting real world hands on experience. While you may be able to access a vendor environment from a phone or other platform or device, it may be clumsy or even impossible to complete the actual labs. We recommend that regardless of what device you use for lectures and reading, that you have a laptop or other device with plenty of screen space when working on labs so that you can both complete them, and develop some real world experience that you can take into a job situation.
The minimum specification to access their services are set by the vendor. Below is some guidance by each vendor.
SSH - version 2
RDP - version 8 or better
A note of caution: If you are using a mobile device to do labs you will need a 3rd party SSH or RDP client to connect to the VMs that you create. Part of the connection process is providing the client with your keys or credentials. Ensure that you are confident about their bonafides before loading your keys or passwords into these clients.
